On Monday 14 October 2022, our team changed hats from the U.S. Coordination Office ones and put on our NH GLOBE Partnership beanies to spend the afternoon collecting macroinvertebrates and water quality data at the Cocheco River/Hanson Pines site with 4th and 5th graders from Maple Street Magnet School in Rochester, NH. We had so much fun - and our colleague from the University of New Hampshire, a water scientist, and our colleague from the USDA Forest Service came along too! And something really special happened in a crosscutting way...the art teacher was in the field with us helping students sketch the beautiful fall study site. We will get a story up and share it in the coming weeks! In other news, we are working on the North American Regional Meeting (NARM) and preparing to collect the information for our annual Yearbook!
Registration is open for U.S. educators and Partners for the 2022 Virtual NARM and your choice of four in-person NARM Professional Learning workshops across the country. The virtual NARM is 2-4 November and runs each day from 2:30-5pm ET/11:30am-2pm PT. The agenda will be out mid-week next week. The in-person NARM workshops for educators and Partners take place 7-8 November - a hydrology/microplastics/clouds one in Oakland, CA, a soil/land cover/DEIA one in Blythewood, SC, an urban heat island/prairie one in Toledo, OH, and a citizen science one in Reading, PA, all in picturesque settings. Our group’s debrief on the new GLOBE comprehensive evaluation plan is now scheduled for 1 November. This is our opportunity to learn about the plan and represent our regions by offering the GLOBE community perspective. Feedback may be incorporated into the plan before its implementation.
