Study Water in Our Environment Together with Students From All Around the World
ENSO Student Research Campaign Phase III
September 15, 2017 - June 30, 2018

GLOBE students from all around the world are working together on the ENSO Phase III Student Research Campaign, "Water in Our Environment," and are helping NASA to study water and to try and answer vital questions about water - the main reason for life on Earth.

Would you like to see how students from Poland, Croatia, and Switzerland measure water quality? To see this webinar and several others click here.

You can also join some of the upcoming webinars:

  • The “Connections and Collaboration” webinar on Thursday, 12 April @12:00 p.m. UTC (GMT). You can join the webinar here.
  • SODA webinar “Does Data Drive Questions or Do Questions Drive Data?" on Thursday 26 April @ 9:00 p.m. UTC (GMT). To join this webinar click here

Focus of the campaign

The campaign focuses on three main topics:

Each topic is focused on guiding investigative questions that enable students to meaningfully explore water in their local environment. Each question is aligned to a suite of suggested GLOBE measurement protocols that will help investigate different aspects of water.

The major focus of this campaign is collaboration. By collaborating, students can learn what’s happening in environments across the globe through the data collected by the same protocols and can learn about the influence of water on a global scale.

About webinars

The campaign will bring two types of seminars:

Monthly Science and Research Webinars

Hour-long webinars, where the first 30 minutes are focused on the science and research behind the question. The next 30 minutes will involve sharing resources that can be used in educational settings to teach students about the guiding question. Participants will have time to try out online resources, and can engage in discussions to maximize collaboration efforts.

Short Observation & Data Analysis (SODA) Webinars

”The “SODA” webinars will focus on the data collected during the SODA protocol measurement period. Several schools (teachers and students) will present their data collection and what the data has told them about water in our environment. Each school presenting at a SODA webinar will then collaborate with another school or schools taking some of the same measurements, answering the same questions.
