GLOBE Argentina Holds Introductory Workshop in Jujuy
On 10-11 November, an Introductory Workshop on the GLOBE Program was held in Jujuy, Argentina 馃嚘馃嚪, organized by GLOBE Argentina. The event brought together educators interested in incorporating scientific observation and environmental data collection into their classrooms.
Country Coordinator Marta Kingsland opened the workshop with an overview of the GLOBE Program and its main scientific protocols. Participants then engaged in a hands-on training session focused on the Atmosphere, Biosphere, and Mosquito Habitat Mapper protocols, allowing them to experience GLOBE observations and measurements in practice.
The workshop also featured a presentation of the GLOBE Observer app as a tool for teachers, including a walkthrough of the manual data entry process and the benefits it offers for facilitating student and school participation in citizen science campaigns.
This training strengthened the GLOBE education network in Argentina and opened new opportunities for more schools to join regional and global environmental monitoring efforts.
Taller de Introducci贸n al Programa GLOBE en Jujuy
El 10 y 11 de noviembre se realiz贸 el Taller de Introducci贸n al Programa GLOBE en la provincia de Jujuy 馃嚘馃嚪, una actividad organizada por GLOBE Argentina para fortalecer la participaci贸n de docentes en el programa y promover la educaci贸n cient铆fica ambiental en las escuelas del pa铆s.
La Coordinadora de Pa铆s, Marta Kingsland, abri贸 el encuentro presentando los fundamentos del Programa GLOBE y los principales protocolos de medici贸n. Luego, los participantes participaron de un taller pr谩ctico centrado en los protocolos de Atm贸sfera, Biosfera y Mosquito Habitat Mapper, donde pudieron experimentar de primera mano las actividades de observaci贸n y registro de datos.
Durante la capacitaci贸n tambi茅n se present贸 la aplicaci贸n GLOBE Observer como herramienta para docentes, explicando el proceso de carga manual de datos y las ventajas que ofrece para facilitar la participaci贸n de estudiantes y escuelas en las campa帽as de ciencia ciudadana.
El taller permiti贸 fortalecer la red educativa GLOBE en Argentina y abrir nuevas oportunidades para que m谩s escuelas se incorporen al monitoreo ambiental regional y global.
