GLOBE Nepal Students Share GLOBE Experiences with Prince Edward, The Duke of Edinburgh, at Special Event
From Amity, Principal Subarna Bhattarai was invited to attend the afternoon award ceremony for the Gold Award, and Bhattarai and students Prashina L. and Jenish B. were invited to the evening portion of the event where the participating students had the opportunity to explain the GLOBE Program to the royal guests.
The students' invitations to the event
The students presented information about their research activities on mosquito habitats, clouds, land cover, and trees. The royal guests were impressed by the different GLOBE activities and observations that Prashina and Jenish, along with their classmates at Amity, had carried out and were interested in how the Amity team was helping the community through these learned skills. Ambassador Fenn was very curious about the mosquito larva research around dengue, malaria, and encephalitis.
The Prince and Ambassador Fenn appreciated the students’ role in the community, and Ambassador Fenn stated his excitement and eagerness to observe it personally one day. He is supposed to be in Nepal again for the Award Ceremony Program, the moment we are keenly waiting for to be honored with The Bronze Award from The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and to have the opportunity to present some of our activities to His Excellency.
The students were thrilled to be part of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Program and The GLOBE Program.
