Air quality discussion at Patrick Henry Local Schools
Dr. Kevin Czajowski engaged with students in observing air quality and explained how it affects students and their community. The discussion included the impact of smoke from Canadian fires, train derailments, and industry, all of which negatively affect air quality. He also mentioned ways to observe air quality using sensors. Several companies have developed small sensors for citizen scientists and students to observe particulate matter (PM2.5), ozone, carbon monoxide, and other matter. Dr. Czajowksi inspired school students and teachers to observe their environment and develop authentic research projects, which can be presented at science symposia. The event took place at Patrick Henry Local School on February 3rd, 2025.
