Air Quality Science in Virtual Workshop
Experts and GLOBE practitioners discussed the best practices and challenges in deploying PM2.5 sensors in a virtual workshop. The Air Quality (AQ) science workshop was held virtually from May 7 to 9, 2025. The workshop focused on low-cost air sensors and applications in advanced research work. It brought together a combined perspective of scientists in using low-cost sensors(LCS) and GLOBE community practitioners, with over 100 participants, to create a unique, holistic approach in measuring PM2.5 across various disciplines and applications.
The workshop presentations highlighted advances in calibration, long-term deployments, satellite and remote sensing applications, and educational tools for communicating data from low-cost PM2.5 sensors.
The GLOBE program can serve as a bridge between scientists and community partners by helping to create resources and protocols for measuring PM2.5 using LCS.
