Latin America and Caribbean Seminar Series on the 2024 Annual Eclipse Wraps Up
The Latin American and Caribbean RCO, along with support from various LAC country leadership, just completed a series of seminars on the 2024 Annular Eclipse. The goal was to train the community, especially educators, on various aspects of the annular eclipse, preparing for the event that will take place on 2 October. Seminar recordings are available for viewing.

Urgent eTraining Update
Due to factual errors in the web-based eTraining modules released to the community in 2023/2024, the new GIO team, GPO, and Data and Information System (DIS) team agreed that the current best option is to revert back to the prior PowerPoint-based eTraining modules for now. Join GLOBE Mission Earth Urban Heat Island Intensive Observation Period (UHI-IOP) Starting October 2024
GLOBE Mission Earth invites educators, citizen scientists, and students all over the world to participate in the UHI-IOP throughout October. You and your students can be part of this important data collection by collecting surface temperature, air temperature, and cloud observations.

Country Collaboration Leads to Lithuania Educator Training
The GLOBE training for educators in Lithuania took place at Žagarė Regional Park on 9–11 September 2024. The training covered practical methods for environmental research, equipping educators with skills to engage students in scientific projects. Twenty-three educators from various Lithuanian schools learned methods for atmospheric, hydrological, soil, and biological observations.

GLOBE Asia and Pacific Soil in Schools Campaign Sees Remarkable Participation Across the Region
The GLOBE Asia and Pacific Regional Coordination Office launched the Soil in Schools campaign on 1 September 2024. More than 130 participants have signed up already from countries and partnerships such as Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Mongolia, Taiwan, and the Philippines. Read about more campaign highlights.

GLOBE Is Part of the NASA International Space Apps Challenge!
The GLOBE Protocol Games, part of the NASA Space Apps Challenge, asks students to create a game that integrates GLOBE protocols to help players develop awareness of one or more local or global environmental topics (e.g., urbanization, water pollution, drought), investigate their local communities using GLOBE protocols, or learn scientific principles.

GLOBE Session Recordings Now Available from Science Summit at United Nations General Assembly
At this year’s United Nation General (UN) Assembly Science Summit, GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO) staff took an important role by discussing GLOBE’s position on advancing the UN’s Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), promoting environmental science diplomacy, and fostering global engagement through three panel discussions.
