Protocol Certification Requirements

Required eTraining Modules by Sphere/Protocol

Before you can start logging your measurements into our databases, you must first complete the necessary GLOBE protocol training. To make these trainings more accessible, we've created online learning modules that will help you meet our quality standards. Below, you can find a guide to the specific modules you must complete before uploading data pertinent to a specific Earth sphere and protocol.

Important: Zebra Zapps, an online visual tool, is required to run certain Supported Materials, however, the application is known to malfunction with specific internet browsers. If you're experiencing this issue, try loading the material within a different browser. Unfortunately, our support staff won't be able to assist you if you can't open this content, but keep in mind, this material is not required to complete any training module.


Choose the protocol within the Earth sphere that corresponds with the data you want to collect. The required modules within each sphere are ordered by ease of implementation.

Important: You must first complete the Introduction to GLOBE training no matter which sphere/protocol you choose. 


Complete the Introduction to Atmosphere and one of the modules below to complete your training in an Atmosphere protocol.

Green Up-Green Down

1 of the following:

  • Green Up-Green Down: Grass Green-Up
