The Sultanate of Oman Celebrates a Tree Day with GLOBE Schools
The Environmental Council in Al Dhahirah Governorate (Oman), in cooperation with the General Education Directorate, organized a student forum for schools implementing The GLOBE Program on Omani Tree Day. This event is celebrated on 31 October each year. Omani tree Day aims to educate young people about environmental values and the participation of countries in the world in environmental events.
Through the forum, the student teams' research and studies were presented. The forum also included several entertainment segments and environmental competitions. A group of female students won the short story competition about the harms of excessive logging and cutting down green trees; many students from Amjad Oman School, Asmaa bint umais School, Ibri school and Sawda Umm al-Muminin School participated as well.
The forum was sponsored by Engineer Talal bin Salem Al-Azri, Chairman of the Environmental Council in Al-Dhahirah Governorate (Oman).
