GLOBE Represented at the Inaugural GLOBAL Economic Summit 2024 in Ireland

From 20-23 May 2024, over 300 leaders from economics, business, technology, energy, education, sustainability, and politics attended the inaugural GLOBAL Economic Summit (GES) 2024 in Killarney, Ireland. Held at the Europe Hotel and Resort on the shores of Loch Lein was an amazing and appropriate location - Loch Lein is Gaelic for "Lake of Learning!" And what learning occurred about the topics of Gen AI, energy, sustainability, climate change, eLearning, and many more. The Business Post group, an Irish media company, convened the summit, with a number of company sponsors, including Irish-American company, accenture, as the primary sponsor, with genconnect, a Colorado based company, the main education sponsor.

Dr. Tony Murphy, Director Community Engagement and Program Strategy at the GLOBE Implementation Office, was one of the international thought leaders and experts invited to speak at the summit. “It was an amazing experience. To be a part of this inaugural event with such an incredible diversity of distinguished speakers and leaders in so many sectors. Seeing the connections between the various topics and weaving those in a tapestry representing the 3Es (Environment, Economics, and Equity) and considering how these interact was so, so powerful. I feel so proud to be representing GLOBE and UCAR at this impressive summit.” Based on the Davos model, it is planned that the summit will become an annual event, located on the shores of “this lake of learning.”
