The GLOBE Mission Mosquito (GMM) webinar, “The Power of Data,” will be held on Thursday, 18 November, at 02:00 p.m. ET (06:00 p.m. UTC).

Most of the time when we think of “big data,” we think of bioinformatics and supercomputers. Big data is a collection of data that is both large and growing exponentially with time. During this webinar, Victoria Pickens, graduate research assistant in the Department of Entomology at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, USA; and the Medical, Urban, and Veterinary Entomology Section Representative to the ESA Student Affairs Committee will share her experiences and recommendations for how to tackle “big data” – with everything from examples in research to where and how to begin, and a peek into the benefits of coding.
