TerraROVER Indoor Navigation
A capstone senior design team of Boston University students in the Mechanical Engineering program collaborated with Prof Caleb Farny, Geoffrey Bland, and Lisa Ogiemwonyi to improve the TerraROVER’s functionality. Current TerraROVER systems are restricted to outdoor application due to its current positioning sensing capability. The project goal was to develop an indoor navigation system and coordinate mapping within an enclosed setting, while preserving its core functionality.

Providence (RI) SRS presentations (June, 2025)
On June 17th, educators and families from across Providence gathered with the GLOBE Mission EARTH educators from Boston University at our local Science Research Symposium for the Providence RI Public School District. Ten projects were on display, representing learners from 1st grade through 12th and displaying a wide range of scientific inquiry. Three of those projects specifically utilized Green Up and Green Down data in their explorations.

Mississippi GLOBE Student Receives Scholarship in Part Due to GLOBE Project
GLOBE student Jackson P., a senior at Gulfport High School (Mississippi), has received the Randall Research Scholarship. Jackson used his GLOBE project that he started in 8th grade at Bayou View Middle School with Mrs. Angela Lee, “How Does Runoff cause/affect Dead Zones and Ocean life within them?” to assist in getting this award.

GLOBE Student Is Recognized with Seven Awards at USM Regional Science Fair
Lily C., a 9th grader from Gulfport High School, Gulfport, Mississippi, took her GLOBE project “The Gulf of Mexico Dead Zone” to the 2025 University of Southern Mississippi Regional Science Fair. Lily started this project as an 8th grade student at Bayou View Middle School, where she was under the guidance of GLOBE educator Angela Lee.

Soil Tent at 2025 NH Forest Career Field Day
On April 17, the New Hampshire GLOBE Partnership’s Earth Around Us Soil Tent joined other exhibitors at the 2025 New Hampshire Forest Career Field Day. Organized by the New Hampshire Timberland Owners Association (NHTOA), the event educates students in grades 7–12 about careers in forestry, wildlife, and natural resources, conservation and the forest products industry. This year, 750 students attended the event with their educators.
