Mississippi GLOBE Student Receives Scholarship in Part Due to GLOBE Project


GLOBE student Jackson P., in his graduation gown with medals and cords around his neck, stands beside his middle school teacher Mrs. Angela LeeGLOBE student Jackson P., a senior at Gulfport High School (Mississippi), has received the Randall Research Scholarship. The Catherine J. Randall Research Scholars Program at the University of Alabama is a nationally recognized interdisciplinary undergraduate research program that pairs exceptional and highly motivated students directly with leading research professors and cutting-edge information management technology to complete scholarly research projects in diverse fields of study.

Jackson used his GLOBE project that he started in 8th grade at Bayou View Middle School with Mrs. Angela Lee, “How Does Runoff cause/affect Dead Zones and Ocean life within them?” to assist in getting this award.

He will attend the University of Alabama starting in Fall 2025, where he will pursue a double major in Engineering and History.
