Philippine Science High School Central Luzon Campus (PSHS-CLC) “Tulong Dunong” Outreach Program Featuring the GLOBE Program

13 December 2023. The PSHS-CLC, as part of the school’s community service and outreach program aimed at capacitating schools and teachers in delivering quality STEM education, conducted a GLOBE protocol training for the Area Heads, Department Heads, and Science & Research Teachers of Victoria National High School in San Gavino, Victoria, Tarlac. The participants were oriented on the use of the GLOBE Protocols as a pedagogical tool in understanding the intricacies, interrelationships, and interdependencies of the Earth’s “Spheres” that make up the “Earth System.” The training offered teachers an alternative teaching-and-learning technique that involved teaching students how to observe the environment, collect environmental data, and share information to the global scientific community thru the GLOBE Website.

Josephine Joy Tolentino-Antalan, a biology teacher from PSHS-CLC, and a certified GLOBE Mentor Trainer demonstrated to participants the use of the GLOBE Observer App for making significant environmental observations, and how it can be used as tool for data collection and research. The training is focused on Atmosphere and Hydrosphere protocols, including the Mosquito protocol.

At the end of the day, a total of 17 high school teachers and administrators were certified as GLOBE Educators.
