Phenology and Climate … Ask Questions, Discover Answers
Aug 16, 2012
Now is the time to learn more about the growing season in your community and GLOBE can help you do just that.
As part of the GLOBE Student Climate Research Campaign (SCRC), The GLOBE Program Office (GPO) is seeking measurements of Budburst, Green-up and Green-down as well as measurements of air temperature, precipitation and soil temperature and soil moisture. Now you can play an active role in determining the growing season by doing these protocols throughout the appropriate season at your school.
Here are the details:
- The Phenology and Climate project officially launches 1 September 2012
- It's part of SCRC Phase Two, however each school will need to determine the appropriate times for their school to conduct the phenology protocols and associated atmosphere and soil measurements.
- Some schools may want to start these protocols right away if Budburst or Green-down is already starting to happen at your school.
See the Phenology and Climate project website for more information. For more information on SCRC, email GPO, at climatecampaign@globe.gov
