Rotary Club Honors GLOBE Project National Coordinator in Israel

Dr. Farid Hamdan of the Israeli Ministry of Education and National Coordinator for The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program, received the Rotary Club of Israel's Award for Tolerance in a December 20 ceremony. GLOBE is a worldwide primary and secondary school based science and education program carried out in partnership with U.S. government scientific agencies. Dr.Hamdan received the award for facilitating collaboration among students of all Israeli ethnic groups—Jewish, Muslim, Bedouin, Druze and Christian—to gather Earth science data for a GLOBE project with NASA.

Currently, 127 Israeli schools throughout the country actively follow the GLOBE curriculum, which promotes Earth science and environmental awareness. The GLOBE program is active in 112 countries worldwide and numerous partners and schools across the Middle East and North Africa.
