Texas resident Jennifer Hammonds connects Sustainability Action with GLOBE
Last year, Eco-Schools celebrated its 25th anniversary. Like GLOBE, Eco-Schools is an international organization (69 countries), combining hands-on learning with environmental education. So, a partnership drawing on the sustainable school focus of Eco-Schools and GLOBE seems a natural fit.
Jennifer Hammonds leads the Eco-Schools USA, a project sponsored by the National Wildlife Federation. Eco-schools follow a seven-step framework to ensure lasting and school-wide impact to the thousands of Eco-Schools across the country. These seven steps include involvement in the community and linking to existing curriculum.
Since 2015, GLOBE Partner Hammonds has been introducing GLOBE to Eco-Schools as a way to add observations and scientific rigor to the sustainability efforts. Within the GLOBE southwest region, several districts have partnered with Eco-Schools USA including the Houston (TX) Independent School District, Austin (TX) Independent School District, Douglass County (CO) School District, and the Kansas Green Schools of Excellence.

Eco-schools partnered with GIO, YLACES, and Metropolitan State University for a GLOBE workshop for the district held at the school (proud of their gardens and chickens).
