2021 GLOBE+ Virtual Student Symposium

The GLOBE Pacific Region is gearing up for GLOBE student research projects. The WestEd/UC Berkeley partnership is teaming up with the CA Strong Earth System Science (ESS) collaborators: LAUSD Office of Outdoor Environmental Education, Elkhorn Slough NERR, SF Bay NERR and NASA JPL to host the 2021 GLOBE+ Virtual Student Symposium. The two-day event will take place on Friday afternoon, 30 April, and Saturday morning, 01 May. GLOBE Partnerships from Purdue University and Suny Fredonia will also join the event, bringing student teams focused on coding and engineering projects.

With the generous support from Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists (YLACES), this event will offer student recognition awards in Data Literacy; Data Sources, Use of Data, Data Visualization, and Data Analysis/Interpretation. This event will include peer-to-peer project sharing, and student teams will have the opportunity to present their projects to scientists related to their project’s field of study. We are also working together to coordinate keynote speakers, virtual student activities, and presentations from notable individuals. If you have questions or want to learn more about this event, please contact Tracy Ostrom (tostrom@berkeley.edu) WestEd/UC Berkeley GLOBE Partnership. For more information about how students can prepare for this event, see our youtube video.
