2024 GLOBE Annual Meeting Highlights: U.S. Partners
The 2024 GLOBE Annual Meeting was chock full of presentations, informal gatherings, and discussions. Nearly 30 U.S. GLOBE Partners and educators presented about their GLOBE work and led sessions to help others learn about protocols.  >>

GLOBE and STEELS Standards in Pennsylvania
During the winter of 2024, Berks Nature took on the task of aligning the GLOBE Program’s protocols with the Pennsylvania Science, Technology and Engineering, Environmental Literacy and Sustainability (STEELS) Standards. The project’s purpose was to create a document that would be used by elementary and secondary teachers as they decide which protocols match the needs of their curriculum.  >>

The Re-Establishment of GLOBE in Alabama
Alabama was once a highly active state in The GLOBE Program, with over 970 participating schools. After the retirement of the Partnership Coordinator in 2019, participation in GLOBE declined. The Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI) has been working to re-build their GLOBE training team and provide sustainability for the Partnership.  >>

Going Global in West Virginia with GLOBE
In Fall 2023, the GLOBE U.S. Coordination Office awarded Fairmont State University and the Katherine Johnson NASA Independent Verification & Validation's Education Resource Center (IV&V ERC) in Fairmont, West Virginia, a grant for an Atmosphere data protocol training to prepare GLOBE teachers to become mentors for GLOBE science fair projects both at the county and state level as well as during the GLOBE International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS).  >>

Students Share Research at U.S. GLOBE Student Research Symposia
In April and May 2024, middle and high school students from around the United States came together at five GLOBE U.S. Regional Student Research Symposia (SRS) to share the results of research they conducted in their local communities. They used GLOBE protocols and data in their research and prepared posters to share their results with their peers and STEM professionals.  >>

New Hampshire Students Help Create the Earth Around Us Water Tent
On June 6, a cheer went up through the crowd that gathered to witness the unveiling of the Water Tent, part of the Earth Around Us tent program produced by the New Hampshire GLOBE Program based at the Leitzel Center at the University of New Hampshire. The crowd comprised nearly 75 Kindergarten through grade 5 students and their teachers at the Maple Street Magnet School in Rochester, N.H.  >>

Midwest Students Present Research at Toledo Zoo and Aquarium
Seventy-two students from four states (Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin) participated in the 2024 Midwest GLOBE Student Research Symposium, held at the Toledo Zoo and Aquarium (Ohio) from May 6-8, 2024.  >>

All Saints' Episcopal School Hosts Southwest Students' Research
The GLOBE Southwest SRS was held May 3-4, 2024, at All Saints' Episcopal School in Fort Worth, Texas, with over 70 attendees. GLOBE students and educators traveled from Kansas, New Mexico and Texas to share their research during a poster session.  >>

Boston University AquaROVER Design project
The AquaROVER Senior Design Team, in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Boston University, successfully completed their Capstone Design project. The members of the team, Fahim Rabbi, Lorenzo Moriche Koukouchkina, Natalie Menon, Samuel Haley, and Weinuo Lin, collaborated with Prof Caleb Farny (Boston University, GLOBE Mission EARTH), Geoffrey Bland (NASA Goddard, AREN Project), and Lisa Ogiemwonyi (Wayne RESA, AREN Project), to continue development of the AREN AquaROVER vehicle and the primary goal of adding wind propulsion to the vehicle. The team designed, built, and tested a new sail, keel, elevator, and rudder mechanism.  >>

Northeast/Mid-Atlantic Students Showcase Environmental Research at Berks Nature
Sixty-four students from nine schools across the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic region conducted research to answer a question about the environment. The students discussed their research projects during a poster session with ten science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) professionals who represented non-profit organizations, institutes of higher education and NASA facilities.  >>
