Biosphere Learning Progression Grades 6-8: GLOBE Protocols Aligned with NASA Resources and NGSS Standards

Biosphere Learning Progressions for learners in grades 6-8 developed for GLOBE Mission Earth to align GLOBE Biosphere Protocols, GLOBE Learning Activities and NASA resources with Next Generation Science Standards. In grades 6-8, students explore how the biosphere has been altered by human activities, sometimes damaging it, although changes to environments can have different impacts for different living things. Through participating in a series of GLOBE and NASA learning activities, and collecting data using the GLOBE protocols, students have the opportunity to engage in authentic science data collection as they explore the world in which they live, developing data literacy skills. Using GLOBE and MY NASA DATA educators and students will access NASA satellite data to examine a variety of Earth system interactions. Prepared by NASA Langley Research Center Science Directorate Education Team, 2018. Updated by NASA Langley Research Center Science Directorate Education Team 2025.
