As of 2021: Please note that the email address for the GLOBE Community Support team has changed, but this change has not been reflected in the eTraining slides. For questions regarding eTraining module content, email globehelp@ucar.edu.

For New GLOBE Teachers:

The following modules must be completed to become a trained GLOBE Teacher (to enable you to enter data for any protocol):

  • Introduction to GLOBE (on the eTraining home page)
  • Introduction to a Sphere (Atmosphere, Biosphere, Hydrosphere or Pedosphere)
  • 1 Protocol Module (from the same sphere as the introduction module)

  • The Land Cover Sample Site Description module is also required for the Biometry protocol
  • The Selecting, Exposing and Defining a Soil Characterization Site module is also required for the Soil Characterization protocol
  • Standard Site Carbon Cycle Protocols OR Non-Standard Site Carbon Cycle Protocols is also required for the Carbon Cycle protocol

Step 1: Download and review the presentation modules (open to everyone).

Step 2: Log-in. Don't have an account? Create your account here.

Step 3: Take the online assessment test for each module. You must have a GLOBE account to take the assessment tests. Once you pass the tests (80% of the answers correct), you will become a GLOBE teacher and can begin entering GLOBE data on the website or on the GLOBE mobile app.

For GLOBE Observers:

The following modules must be completed to become a trained GLOBE Observer (to enable you to enter data for any protocol):
