Four Student Research Symposium (SRS) teams were selected to participate in the 2025 GLOBE Annual Meeting Student Research Experience. This year the Student Research Experience is a virtual learning opportunity where students will explore the Annual Meeting theme of “30 Years of GLOBE: Understanding the Past, Present, and Future.”

They will collaborate with GLOBE students, peer mentors, and GLOBE International STEM Network (GISN) mentors from all six GLOBE regions to investigate an environmental question using a combination of GLOBE protocols, the GLOBE database, and NASA satellite mission data. They will create a StoryMap to communicate their Student Research Experience investigations. Students will also have the opportunity to present their SRS research project to the GLOBE community during the GLOBE Annual Meeting.

Congratulations to the participating schools (listed below with the title of their SRS project):

  • All Saints’ Episcopal School (Texas): Assessing Local Water Quality Indicators Through Macroinvertebrate Diversity and Pollution Indicators

  • Hillcrest K8 (California): The Effects of Toxins in Our School Water

  • iLEAD Homeschool (California): Utilizing GLOBE/NASA data to confirm the rising atmospheric temperatures resulting in increases in water vapor with consequently disastrous climate crises.

  • Knik Charter School (Alaska): Cottonwood Creek Water Quality Assessment
