Bosques en foco: Concluye el Año 2023 con el Impactante Webinar de cierre de 'Árboles dentro de LAC / "Forests in Focus: Concludes the Year 2023 with the Impressive Closing Webinar of 'Trees within LAC'"
El jueves 7 de diciembre se llevó a cabo el último webinar del año 2023 de la campaña "Árboles dentro de LAC", bajo el título “Bosques en todas partes al mismo tiempo”, a través de la plataforma Zoom. Este evento contó con la participación de 30 docentes provenientes de Argentina, Brasil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Perú, República Dominicana y Uruguay.
Durante el webinar, Ignacio Larco Roca, de la Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina en Perú, destacó la relevancia de los bosques y sus productos, resaltando su proximidad a nuestras vidas incluso si no vivimos en ellos. La presentación de Larco Roca, titulada como el eslogan de la semana forestal en Perú organizada por el Servicio Forestal de Fauna y Flora Silvestre (SELFOR), se centró en tres ideas clave sobre la importancia de los bosques en nuestra cotidianidad, abordando los siguientes temas:
- Los bosques como entidades vivas que impactan positivamente nuestras vidas.
- Los bosques generan bienes y servicios ecosistémicos a niveles locales y globales, desempeñando funciones cruciales como:
- Captura de CO2.
- Almacenamiento de carbono.
- Regulación del clima a nivel local y regional.
- Producción de alimentos y materiales de construcción.
- Contribución a la calidad del agua y al ciclo hidrológico.
- Provisión de refugio y alimento para la fauna silvestre.
- Apoyo a la recreación, ciencia, educación y medicina natural.
- Preservación del espacio cultural de las etnias originales.
Después de la presentación de Larco Roca, las líderes de la campaña “Árboles dentro de LAC” introdujeron la convocatoria para el Simposio Internacional de Ciencias Virtuales 2024 de GLOBE (IVSS), proporcionando detalles relevantes. El evento concluyó con reflexiones finales y comentarios de los asistentes sobre el año.
Para cerrar el evento, Mariana Savino, Coordinadora de la Oficina Regional de Latinoamérica y el Caribe, expresó palabras de agradecimiento, destacando los logros obtenidos y el arduo trabajo realizado, extendiendo su reconocimiento a todas las personas que contribuyeron para que esto fuera posible.
El evento contó con traducción simultánea del español al portugués.

On Thursday, December 7, the last webinar of the year 2023 for the "Trees within LAC" campaign took place, titled "Forests Everywhere at the Same Time," through the Zoom platform. This event involved the participation of 30 teachers from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay.
During the webinar, Ignacio Larco Roca, from the National Agrarian University La Molina in Peru, emphasized the significance of forests and their products, underscoring their proximity to our lives even if we don't inhabit them. Larco Roca's presentation, titled as the slogan of the forest week in Peru organized by the Forest and Wildlife Service (SELFOR), focused on three key ideas regarding the importance of forests in our daily lives, addressing the following topics:
- Forests as living entities that positively impact our lives.
- Forests generate local and global ecosystem goods and services, performing crucial functions such as:
- CO2 capture.
- Carbon storage.
- Regulation of local and regional climate.
- Production of food and construction materials.
- Contribution to water quality and the hydrological cycle.
- Provision of shelter and food for wildlife.
- Support for recreation, science, education, and natural medicine.
- Preservation of the cultural space of original ethnicities.
After Larco Roca's presentation, the leaders of the "Trees within LAC" campaign introduced the call for the 2024 GLOBE International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS), providing relevant details. The event concluded with final reflections and comments from attendees about the year.
To wrap up the event, Mariana Savino, Coordinator of the Latin America and Caribbean Regional Office, expressed words of gratitude, highlighting the achievements and hard work, extending recognition to all those who contributed to making this possible.
The event had simultaneous translation from Spanish to Portuguese.
