GLOBE DIS Team Receives NASA Group Achievement Award

NASA Award to GLOBE DIS Team

Congratulations to the GLOBE Data Information System (DIS) team! Their dedication to enhancing and improving The GLOBE Program has been acknowledged by NASA with a Group Achievement Award “for exceptional achievement in effective utilization of Internet and commercial technologies and for expanding use of mobile citizen-science applications.”

The GLOBE DIS Team includes current, and former, members from the GLOBE Implementation Office, Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI), NASA Goddard, and Dixon Butler Consulting. The team focuses their attention on website, mobile app, and science and member database operations, innovations, and improvements; they are also responsive to technical requests and issues/concerns from the community.

NASA's most prestigious honor awards, including the Group Achievement Award, are approved by the NASA Administrator and presented to a number of carefully selected individuals and groups of individuals, both Government and non-Government, who have distinguished themselves by making outstanding contributions to NASA’s mission. Criteria for the award include:

  • the quality of results and the Agency or multi-Center level of impact on programs or operations;
  • effective management of cost and schedule;
  • customer satisfaction;
  • team growth and capacity for future contribution (Government personnel only); and
  • additional credit for development of innovative approaches, use of and contributions to lessons-learned data banks, and/or
  • success in responding to unforeseen crises.

The Chair of the Incentive Awards Board (IAB) annually requests nominations for the various NASA honor awards. After a rigorous review, the nominations are forwarded to the IAB chair for approval. NASA medals and/or certificates are, subsequently, presented to the award recipients by NASA’s highest officials at the annual awards ceremonies held at NASA Headquarters and each NASA Center.

Congratulations to the GLOBE DIS Team!
