Autumn tree observations on OŠ Mladika

Hello from Primary school Mladika, Ptuj, Slovenia! My name is Marta
Skrbinšek. Together with my students  from 5. a, we have chosen to
observe a lime tree (lat. Tilia platyphyllos). The lime tree has long
been considered a symbol of Slovenian identity. Folk tradition says that
lime trees were often planted on special occasions. They were usually
placed next to churches and other landmarks. Lime trees were often
planted in the middle of villages, where village elders would gather and
deliberate. This are the information about our tree:
  • Our linden tree grows next to the school
    basketball court
  • Latitude: 46.416234
  • Longitude: 15.874438
  • Elevaton: 232 m
  • Tree height: 6,30 m
  • 12th of September 2025
    the leaves on our lime are still green, all leaves are 5GY 3/2. The air
    temperature is 21°C.
