AmericaView / GLOBE Surface Temperature Earth Observation Field Day

Join GLOBE Partner Dr. Kevin Czajkowski, (shown in photo at left with student) host of the first spring AmericaView / GLOBE Surface Temperature Earth Observation Field Day on 10 April.

Satellites observe the temperature of cities and their surrounding areas from space but land observations are needed to validate the satellite temperatures.

Students and teachers, you can play an important role in helping to"ground truth" the satellite data by measuring the surface temperature of a grassy surface and nearby asphalt surface. GLOBE classrooms can contribute their observations to the GLOBE database. Non-GLOBE trained classrooms can send their data to a reporting center. For information about the event and for links to more information about geospacial education visit, the GLOBE website.
