GLOBE Mission Earth Receives a B-WET Grant

GLOBE Mission Earth at the University of Toledo received a B-WET (Bay Watershed Education and Training) grant titled “Engaging K-12 Students in Authentic Watershed Experiences, Science and Stewardship: Reconnecting to the Land at Earth Heart Farms” from NOAA. Runoff from agricultural land is the main contributor to the formation of significant harmful algal blooms (HABs) in the western basin of Lake Erie each summer. Students will collect GLOBE data on Earth Heart Farms located in Oak Harbor, Ohio, about 10 miles from Lake Erie to understand how land use can reduce HABs and improve water quality in Lake Erie.
