Just joined this community. I am a physical oceanographer/aquatic physicist that uses and develops optical methods to study oceans and lakes (much more at: http://misclab.umeoce.maine.edu/). In addition we spend a lot of energy on science education, particularly on hands-on ways to get kids/student excited about science (http://misclab.umeoce.maine.edu/education.php).
My lab recently developed and validated an iPhone App to obtain water turbidity using the iPhone camera (http://misclab.umeoce.maine.edu/research/HydroColor.php). We are in the process of making and Android one as well as developing a new App to get Albedo. I hope that these could one day be part of the sensors used in Globe.
Please feel free to use me as a resource on all aspect of optical remote sensing, turbidity, fluid dynamics and radiative transfer.
Looking forward to a fruitful and fun collaboration, Emmanuel
